Every Wednesday in the courses of “Explore the world”, we encourage students to stand on the stage and report their nation research project. They learned how to collect and edit information and do the PTT properly. This week, students introduced Egypt, the U.K, Panama, and Kenya. All of the students learned the capital cities, geography, currency and some interesting facts from their presentation. They might not be the perfect presenters, but they have learned valuable experiences from it.
This week, Tr. Verona shared her personal journey as a solo volunteer for one month in Costa Rica. Verona introduced this country by her precious experience and showed the students how to make a wonderful speech as well. She taught the students how to make preparation before the trip, adjusted herself to fit in the culture and broke the stereotype. Mostly, she encouraged students to overcome the fear and step out the comfort zone with passion.
At the end of the speech, she told the students the experience of being abroad not only opened the world vision but appreciated the beauty of Taiwan. This was a wonderful lesson for the students. For the meaning of international education, English is only the tool to reach the world. When interacting with people from other countries, we could learn diverse cultural experiences and also show them our own culture. Be proud of your root and also keep an open mind to learn from others. That’s the true meaning of cross-culture learning.
